Check 7 — Stone/Isolation Valve

Verify the stone isolation valve opens and closes correctly in Carbonation mode — the final Health Check, Idents W and X.

Check 7 — Stone hose and isolation valve

Confirm the stone isolation valve controls gas flow to the carbonation stone. This is the final check in the Health Check sequence.

Preconditions

This check runs in Carbonation mode, not Test Mode. It is the only check that does not use Test Mode. Complete Check 6 before you begin.

Step 7: Setup

Connect carbonation stone

Connect the carbonation stone to the stone hose.

Switch to Carbonation mode

Put the FizzWizz into Carbonation mode. To exit Test Mode, switch the FizzWizz OFF and back ON without holding any buttons. The unit then boots normally into Carbonation mode.

Stone circuit isolation valve

The stone circuit isolation valve and flow controller.

Check 7.1 — Isolation valve OPEN (Ident W)

Rotate the knob on the flow controller to open the isolation valve. The flow meter ball should be fully adjustable up and down by turning the knob.

If the ball stays down (W fails)

  1. Flow meter may not be fully off — rotate the knob counterclockwise and retest.
  2. Carbonation stone may be blocked — inspect and clean if necessary.
  3. Check the sanitary check valve and inline check valve for blockage.

If the ball stays up (W fails)

Check the stone hose for leaks, especially at the pneumatic push fittings between the FizzWizz and the isolation valve.

Check 7.2 — Isolation valve CLOSED (Ident X)

Rotate the knob to close the isolation valve. The flow meter ball should drop fully to the bottom of the meter, indicating no gas is flowing to the stone.

Documentation discrepancy

The procedure says to allow approximately 15 seconds for the ball to drop, but the Results Form says approximately 10 seconds. Allow 15 seconds before recording a failure.

If the ball does not drop (X fails)

Check the stone hose and push fittings between the FizzWizz and the isolation valve for leaks that could prevent the circuit from holding.
