The brite tank should start close to zero psi. If the tank is already pressurized, the differential pressure driving CO₂ into solution is reduced, and carbonation will be lower than expected. Check for these two causes: - A leaking Head\_Transfer solenoid. This is almost always a leak. Work through these steps in order: Start with [Check 6 — Leak Testing](/health-check/check-6-leak-testing) and [Check 7 — Stone/Isolation Valve](/health-check/check-7-stone-isolation-valve) to isolate the circuit that is leaking. Inspect the stone hose closely, especially at the push-to-connect fittings. These fittings are a common source of small leaks. Inspect the modification kit connections for any signs of gas escaping. Make sure the swiffer valve on the separator is fully closed and not leaking. If the arm circuit will not hold pressure, check the swiffer valve first. Carbonation stones cause a disproportionate share of carbonation complaints. A regular cleaning schedule prevents hydrophobic buildup and most stone-related issues.
