Glossary

Every named component, reading, and term used across this documentation, in one place. Component names here match the labels used on the Pneumatics Schematic and in the Health Check.

Components inside the enclosure

TermDefinition
Flow ControllerThe vertical flow meter with the adjustment knob. The ball indicates CO₂ flow rate into the stone circuit. Rotate the knob counterclockwise to open.
Head_Transfer SolenoidControls gas to the ARM connection. Operated by the Up button in Test Mode.
CO₂-in SolenoidControls gas to the STONE connection. Operated by the Down button in Test Mode.
Vent SolenoidControls gas to the vent valve. Operated by the Enter button in Test Mode.
Internal FilterProtects the solenoids and transducers from particulate carried in the gas stream.
Vent ValveThe manual valve on the manifold that releases pressure to atmosphere. Must be open for the vent test in Check 4.
CO₂ check valveOne-way valve on the CO₂ inlet. Prevents reverse flow back toward the regulator if the supply runs out.
ManifoldThe internal gas distribution block that feeds the three solenoids.

Stone circuit

TermDefinition
Stone hose5/16 inch ID NSF tubing running from the FizzWizz to the stone assembly.
Inline check valveOne-way valve in the stone hose. Blocks liquid travelling back toward the unit.
Stone Isolation ValveManual valve that isolates the carbonation stone. Used to prove the stone circuit holds in Check 7.
Sanitary Check ValveSecond one-way valve immediately before the stone, on the wetted side.
Check ValveThe serviceable BrewWizz check valve used in the CO₂ line. See Check Valve.
ElbowRight-angle fitting connecting the check valve assembly to the stone.
Stone adaptor kitBrewWizz kit that adapts a Zahm & Nagel 24 in carbonation stone to the FizzWizz stone circuit through a threaded adaptor. Its threaded joints are epoxy welded at the factory.
Carbonation stoneThe porous ceramic diffusion element. Can be left in the tank. Blocked or dirty stones are a leading cause of low carbonation.
WizzStone-ComboStainless steel carrier with a built-in thermowell, holding a 16 in ceramic carbonation stone.
Push-to-connect fittingQuick-release connector. A common source of small leaks — check these first when the flow meter ball behaves oddly.
1/4 inch NPT pneumatic push fittingThreaded fitting joining the hose to the stone assembly.
Epoxy weldFactory-applied food-grade epoxy sealing on NPT threaded joints. Will not come undone without a wrench; do not attempt to unscrew it.

Arm circuit

TermDefinition
Arm HoseConnects the ARM port to the tank head.
SeparatorCatches liquid and foam before it can reach the FizzWizz. The single most important component for protecting the unit.
Swiffer valveDrain valve on the separator. Must be closed during Check 6.2, and is the first thing to check if the arm circuit will not hold pressure.

Sensors and accessories

TermDefinition
WizzTempThe temperature sensor. Its reading drives the carbonation calculation.
Brite pressure transducerReads pressure in the arm/head transfer circuit — the tank head space pressure.
CO₂_In pressure transducerReads pressure at the CO₂ inlet port.
Foot Pressure SensorReads the pressure the packaging line actually sees, eliminating hydrostatic pressure error. Part number INS039.
WizzKoga SelectorElectronic multiplexer that switches up to six tank temperature sensors between one or two FizzWizz units.
Sensor switch boxSits between the FizzWizz and both sensors so a temperature sensor and Foot Pressure Sensor can stay permanently connected.
Battery BackupKeeps the FizzWizz running through brownouts and short power cuts — about 1 hour on a full charge.

Readings and display fields

TermDefinition
CO₂ reg psiPressure at the CO₂ inlet port, as shown on the display. Normally 30–40 psi.
Brite psiPressure in the arm/head transfer circuit, as shown on the display.
Finish pressureThe tank pressure required to reach your target carbonation level at the current product temperature.
Foot pressureThe pressure read at the foot of the tank, which is head space pressure plus hydrostatic pressure.
Hydrostatic pressurePressure exerted by the column of liquid above the sensor — approximately 0.43 psi per foot of product for water.

Operating terms

TermDefinition
Test ModeA diagnostic mode showing live readings and allowing manual solenoid firing. Required for Health Checks 2 through 6.
Carbonation modeThe normal operating mode. Calculates and holds the finish pressure. Used for Check 7.
Head Pressure modeUsed during packaging to regulate pressure between the tank and the filling system.
Health CheckThe structured 7-check diagnostic sequence using A–X ident letters.
IdentA single letter (A through X) identifying one test result within the Health Check. Used consistently across the procedure pages, the Results Form, and the symptom guide.
Results FormThe printable form for recording measured values during the Health Check.
Fluid ingressProduct or moisture reaching the inside of the unit. The most common root cause of transducer and solenoid failures.
