Packaging Connections

Choose the PacWizz arm or foot sensor setup, connect gas and the packaging line, and check isolation valves before pressurizing.

Choose your packaging setup

Both arrangements provide faster gas replacement than the FizzWizz's standard packaging mode. The difference is where the pressure sensor measures.

SetupSensor locationWhat it controlsMain consideration
Arm setupAt the tank's CIP armHeadspace pressureConvenient, but does not compensate for hydrostatic pressure as the tank empties.
Foot setupAt the bottom outlet, between two isolation valvesPressure at the tank footAccounts for liquid pressure during packaging, but the sensor cable needs careful routing.

Use the supplied tri-clamp tee (T fitting) for the selected arrangement.

Before connecting, follow Safety & Site Requirements. The tank must have its appropriate PRV fitted. Make connection changes only after safely isolating and depressurizing the affected equipment under your facility's procedure.

Arm setup

Use this arrangement when you want to control headspace pressure at the CIP arm.

  1. Fit the tee and Foot Pressure Sensor at the CIP arm, as shown below. Despite its name, this sensor can measure gas pressure at the arm.
  2. Connect the PacWizz Brite hose to the tank's arm connection.
  3. Connect your regulated gas supply to CO₂ IN, and connect the sensor cable to the unit.
  4. Connect the bottom outlet to the packaging line.
  5. Ensure tank-side isolation valves are fitted at both the CIP arm connection and the tank foot so the tank can be isolated if packaging needs to pause.

Arm packaging arrangement: regulated gas feeds PacWizz, the Brite hose supplies the tank at the CIP arm, and the pressure sensor is fitted at the arm tee.

The arm sensor measures gas pressure above the liquid. The bottom outlet supplies the packaging line.

This arrangement speeds tank pressurization, but it does not compensate for the changing liquid height. If you need steady pressure at the bottom outlet as the tank empties, choose the foot setup.

Foot setup

The foot setup measures pressure where the beverage leaves the tank. Install the sensor between two butterfly isolation valves:

Tank bottom outlet → tank-side valve → sensor/tee → packaging-side valve → filling line

  1. Install the sensor and tee at the tank foot with a valve on either side of the sensor.
  2. Connect the sensor cable to the PacWizz. Route it so it cannot be tripped over, pulled, caught, or stepped on.
  3. Connect the Brite hose to the tank's CIP arm to supply gas to the headspace.
  4. Connect your regulated gas supply to CO₂ IN.
  5. Before initial pressurization, keep the tank-side valve open and the packaging-side valve closed.
  6. Once the tank reaches the required pressure and the filling line is ready, start the line and open the packaging-side valve.

The tank-side valve must be open while pressurizing. Closing it isolates the foot sensor from the tank and can result in the PRV triggering. Do not continue if the sensor is isolated or the valve positions are uncertain.

Bottom-mounted Foot Pressure Sensor installed between two butterfly isolation valves, with a hose leading toward the packaging line.

Identify the tank-side valve by tracing the connection back to the tank; identify the packaging-side valve by tracing it toward the filling line. Do not rely on handle colour or photo orientation.

Foot packaging arrangement: PacWizz delivers gas to the CIP arm while the sensor measures pressure at the bottom outlet between the tank and the packaging line.

Final checks

  • Sensor and gas hoses match the selected arrangement.
  • The tank-side valves needed for gas delivery and pressure measurement are open.
  • For initial foot-setup pressurization, the packaging-side valve is closed.
  • The tank has its appropriate relief valve fitted.
  • The cable and hose route is safe.
