Tank PurgingPurging Connections

Purging Connections

Connect a purging-equipped PacWizz to the tank, pressure sensor, and remote motorized ball-valve, with a suitable exhaust route outside.

What you need

Tank purging uses the Remote Motorized Ball-valve (RMB) supplied with purging versions of the PacWizz. It controls the vent path during the pressurize-and-vent sequence.

You also need a suitable regulated gas supply, the Brite hose, the Foot Pressure Sensor, tank fittings, an appropriate tank PRV, and a safe outside exhaust route.

Do not start a purge without appropriate ventilation/extraction and safe outside venting. CO₂ and N₂ releases can displace breathable air. Do not leave a tank purging overnight. Read Safety & Site Requirements first.

Tank-mounted valve arrangement

The manual illustrates the following arrangement:

  1. Connect the regulated gas supply to the PacWizz CO₂ IN connection.
  2. Connect the Brite hose to the tank's foot connection for gas injection, as shown below.
  3. Fit the Foot Pressure Sensor at the CIP arm tee and connect its cable to the PacWizz so tank pressure can be monitored.
  4. Fit the RMB to the CIP arm's vent path and connect its control cable to the unit.
  5. Route the RMB exhaust outside through suitable hose/pipework.
  6. Confirm the required gas, sensing, and exhaust paths are open and correctly connected before selecting Tank Purge.

Tank purge arrangement: regulated gas enters PacWizz, the Brite hose injects gas at the tank foot, the sensor measures tank pressure at the CIP arm tee, and the remote motorized ball-valve vents through an outside exhaust hose.

Gas enters at the tank foot; pressure is measured and gas is vented at the CIP arm. This arrangement differs from the packaging connections.

For convenient outside venting, the manual recommends permanently mounting the RMB in a suitable location and running:

Tank CIP arm → hose to RMB inlet → RMB outlet → hose/pipework to outside

The gas supply and pressure-sensor arrangement remain as described above. Confirm the complete vent route is suitable for the gas volume and flow before running a purge.

Recommended vent arrangement: a hose runs from the tank CIP arm to a fixed remote motorized ball-valve, and a second hose carries exhaust through the building wall to outside.

The key requirement is a continuous, suitable exhaust route outside, rather than discharging purge gas into the workspace.

Connection checklist

  • Your unit is equipped for purging and has the RMB connected.
  • The tank is correctly assembled and has its appropriate PRV fitted.
  • Gas supply enters CO₂ IN and the Brite hose goes to the correct tank connection.
  • The Foot Pressure Sensor measures tank pressure and its cable is connected.
  • The RMB control cable is connected and its exhaust route is correctly installed.
  • Required isolation valves are correctly positioned and the vent route is unobstructed.
  • Ventilation/extraction, alarms as appropriate, and hearing protection are ready.
  • Someone will supervise the run; the purge will not be left running overnight.

If your fittings or supplied hardware differ from these illustrations, ask BrewWizz to confirm the arrangement before operating.
