Troubleshooting
Resolve common PacWizz gas-supply, sensor, packaging-pressure, purge-time, and pressure-hold issues, and know when to contact BrewWizz.
Start with safety
If a PRV activates unexpectedly, a gas alarm sounds, or the setup appears unsafe, follow your facility's safety procedure before investigating. Do not bypass a relief valve or keep running through an unresolved hazard.
Read Safety & Site Requirements before changing connections. Isolate and depressurize affected equipment safely before removing fittings or a sensor.
A gas-supply or regulator warning appears
What it may mean: the regulator setting is unsuitable, or the supply cannot maintain the required pressure and flow.
- Check the available gas supply, regulator arrangement, hoses, and valve positions.
- During purging, consider the supplied dual connector and two regulators if one cannot maintain flow.
- If a purge warning continues, the manual recommends slightly throttling the tank-foot gas-injection valve. See Purge Times & Gas Supply for the important distinction from packaging-sensor valves.
- The manual does not specify a universal supply-pressure setting. Contact BrewWizz if you need help selecting one.
Packaging reports that the Foot Pressure Sensor is not connected
What it may mean: the sensor cable is disconnected or damaged.
- Check that the sensor cable is connected to the unit.
- Inspect the cable and connection for damage from pulling, stepping, or catching.
- Check that the sensor is installed at the correct location for your arm or foot setup.
- If the warning remains, contact BrewWizz rather than attempting unsupported electrical repairs.
The relief valve triggers during initial pressurization
In a foot-sensor packaging setup, a closed tank-side valve can cause this problem.
- Follow your facility's safe stopping/isolation procedure.
- Check the tank-side sensor valve position and the pressure setting against the tank's limits.
- Confirm the tank-side valve is open while pressurizing and the sensor can measure tank pressure.
Do not raise or defeat the PRV setting to continue. See Packaging Connections.
Packaging pressure or fill levels vary
- Confirm whether you are using an arm sensor or foot sensor.
- An arm setup controls headspace pressure but does not compensate for the changing liquid height. The foot setup is intended to control pressure at the bottom outlet.
- Check that the supply can keep up with the filling line and that the required isolation valves are open.
- Check the selected fill pressure and observe the response to any adjustment.
See Running Packaging Mode. If the pressure remains unstable, record the displayed values and contact support.
Lowering the packaging setting does not lower pressure immediately
This is expected: Packaging mode does not vent. It stops adding gas as appropriate, but it does not actively release gas to reach a lower setting. Use your facility's safe venting procedure if pressure must be reduced.
A purge takes longer than expected
- Compare total tank capacity, not only working volume, with the manual's example times.
- Check regulator flow capacity and any supply warning.
- Confirm purge pressure, vent pressure, finish pressure, and cycle count.
- Check the exhaust route and valve arrangement against Purging Connections.
Do not leave a long purge running overnight.
Pressure falls after purging
Use the Post-Purge Pressure Check to calculate loss over the actual hold time. Temperature changes may also affect pressure.
If the drop is unexpected, check the tank assembly and connections using your facility's safe procedure before transfer. The manual does not specify a universal pass/fail loss rate; share your readings with BrewWizz if you need help interpreting them.
The calculated oxygen result is not low enough
Review the purge settings and cycle count, then return to Purge SetUp instead of starting the run. See Understanding Purge Calculations. Never exceed equipment limits to obtain a lower estimate.
Remember that the displayed O₂ percentage is calculated, not measured.
Gather these details for support
- Mode: Packaging or Tank Purge.
- Sensor location and connection arrangement.
- Exact warning wording and displayed pressures.
- For purging: the four setup values, tank total capacity, and regulator arrangement.
- For a pressure-hold concern: recorded finish pressure, current pressure, purge time, total elapsed time, and any temperature change.
- Photos of the external connections and display, taken only when safe.
