Planning & InstallationSite Requirements

Site Requirements

What a brewhouse needs before a FizzWizz is installed — CO₂, power, mounting, network, tank fittings, and safety requirements.

Site requirements

Confirm these before starting an installation. Almost every installation problem traces back to something on this page that was missing or undersized at the planning stage.

CO₂ supply

RequirementDetail
Supply pressure30–40 psi at the regulator
RegulatorRequired. A regulator problem shows up as Health Check Ident A or R
ConnectionTo the CO₂_In port
CapacitySized for your batch volume and carbonation target — the CO₂ Stone flow rate calculator in the BrewWizz app gives the maximum flow rate for your stone

Diminishing CO₂ supply is one of the alerts the FizzWizz raises. On a site where CO₂ runs out mid-batch, carbonation stalls and the batch has to be rested — worth planning cylinder changes ahead of long runs.

Power

RequirementDetail
SupplyMains power for the wall-wart power supply
OutletA live outlet within reach of the power supply cable
ReliabilityThe unit tolerates brief interruptions, but a Battery Backup is recommended where brownouts are common
IndicatorThe green light on the power supply confirms it is functional

Mounting

RequirementDetail
SurfaceWall, tank, or another surface
Dimensions6 × 10.6 × 5.7 in (15.2 × 26.9 × 14.5 cm) — see Specifications
AccessLeave room to reach the front panel and the flow controller on the side
Hose runsThe unit must be within reach of the stone hose and arm hose runs

Tank requirements

RequirementDetail
Pressure relief valveRequired. Must be fitted and set to 15 psi
Stone connectionA port for the carbonation stone, or a tri-clamp tee
Arm connectionA connection to the tank head for the arm hose
Isolation valvesRecommended on the stone circuit; required either side of a Foot Pressure Sensor
Temperature probe accessA thermowell or port for the WizzTemp sensor — the WizzStone-Combo carrier includes a built-in thermowell

Only use BrewWizz products with tanks that have a pressure relief valve (PRV) fitted, set to 15 psi. Do not proceed with an installation on a tank without one.

Network

RequirementDetail
Wi-FiThe FizzWizz is Wi-Fi enabled and needs network access for dashboard reporting
SignalAdequate coverage where the unit is mounted — breweries are often poor Wi-Fi environments
AccountA BrewWizz account with the device assigned, for dashboard monitoring

Without network access the unit still carbonates normally, but you lose remote monitoring and alerts, and the device shows as Stale or Offline on the dashboard. See Device Offline or Not Reporting.

Fluids and environment

ConsiderationDetail
CondensationBrewery electronics move between cold rooms and a humid brewhouse. The FizzWizz boards are conformally coated, but the electronics are not waterproof
SplashThe unit is not designed for direct spray or washdown
Arm separatorAlways fit one. It is the single most important component for protecting the unit from fluid ingress
GlycolGlycol system issues are one of the conditions the FizzWizz alerts on — check glycol runs near the unit

Consumables to have on hand

For commissioning and ongoing operation:

  • Disposable gloves (used in Check 6 leak testing)
  • A printed Results Form
  • A push-to-connect jumper hose (used to move the CO₂ supply between ports during testing)
  • Cleaning chemicals: a caustic cleaner such as PBW, plus sanitiser
  • Spare orange O-rings and hairpin cotter pins (supplied with the WizzStone-Combo)

Checklist

Work through this before ordering or installing:

  • CO₂ supply available at 30–40 psi with a working regulator
  • Live power outlet within reach of the power supply
  • Mounting surface identified, with access to the front panel and flow controller
  • Tank has a PRV fitted and set to 15 psi
  • Port available for the carbonation stone, and for the arm hose to the tank head
  • Thermowell or port available for the temperature sensor
  • Wi-Fi coverage at the mounting location
  • BrewWizz account ready for device assignment
  • Arm separator on hand
  • Cleaning chemicals and a printed Results Form on hand
